What We Collect
PinSnip does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
Screenshots, GIF recordings, annotations, and your settings are stored locally on your Mac; we do not collect or upload them.
How Capture and Recognition Are Handled
- PinSnip captures the screen only when you actively take a screenshot or record a GIF. It never records in the background, and GIF recordings contain no audio.
- Text recognition (OCR) and QR / barcode detection run entirely on-device via Apple Vision — offline and without third-party APIs.
- PinSnip does not upload screenshots, GIF recordings, or recognition results to our servers.
- Saving and copying are user-initiated; the destination is chosen by you through the system save panel.
Permissions
PinSnip needs macOS Screen Recording permission for screenshots and GIF creation. It is used only for actions you explicitly start, never for background recording.
PinSnip (App Store version) does not request or use Accessibility permission, and contains no in-app update check.
Network and Third-Party Services
PinSnip's core features (capture, GIF recording, markup, pin, OCR, barcode) do not require an account and do not send any content to network services.
If we add crash reporting, website analytics, or similar features in the future, we will describe the data types and purposes in this policy.
Children's Privacy
PinSnip is a general productivity utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy as the product changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
